Miyamoto Shrine> Zelda: Four Swords Plus Impressions

First of all: thinking of importing? Don't. Lots and lots of Japanese text, this IS a Zelda game and their IS a story, plus I can't tell what the hell people are saying to me. I can see myself picking up the US version in a few months time because I'm missing out on alot of story.

This game is damn cool, amazing graphics, zoomed all the way in the sprites are quite pixilated but once you're zoomed all the way out you really start to notice the difference in resolution over the SNES and Gameboy Zelda games. Theirs some really nice effects going on, lots of pretty wind waker style explosions, cool fire effects with heat waves coming off of flames and water ripples when you're swimming. The technology brings alot of cool stuff to the 2D style Zelda, you can throw items out of house windows, flame a tree with your torch and watch a massive forest fire ensue :)

Four player is absolutely brilliant but for you loners you can play the game in single player, basically you control all four links and with the L button you can change formation, like lined up or in a block or back to back. Nothing more impressive than a firing squad of Links arrowing down the hundreds of troops trying to get to them. You can also take control of individual Links with the select button.

There's 7 different worlds each with 4 or 5 levels, occasionally around the levels there are items on pedestals for you to take or swap as Link can only carry one at a time, so if you want to change your fire rod for a boomerang you can. Link has some new moves as well, you can roll with the R button and you can perform a diving stab with forward and B.

One thing that bothered me at ECTS and still bothers me now... this is a co-op game and yet Nintendo encourage and reward players for attacking their teams mates. We almost broke into an all out punch up more the once, teammates slicing the hell out of you and throwing bombs at you in order to steal your rupees, if this was an online game no-one would play it. The most annoying thing is when a teammate picks you up and carries you around and you can't do anything about it.

Shadow Battle is just your average deathmatch, small arena, switches and underground areas to hide.

The sound is brilliant, lots of songs and voices from Wind Waker and most importantly Alttp. There's loads and loads of songs and sound effects from Alttp, even the oldschool text noises! Yeah!

I've already encountered one big boss :It's the dark shadow guy from ALTTP who plays energy ball tennis with you. This is very fun with four people running around trying to hit the energy ball :)
